Extreme Weather on Mount Washington Leads to Powder Day

The latest video out this week is an outtake from “Skiing States: New Hampshire”. Due to Extreme avalanche danger we did laps in ideal powder conditions on the historic Sherburne Ski Trail (Considerable is shown in the video but it was updated to Extreme as we were on the mountain). The Sherburne or “Sherbie” is a safe moderate below treeline run… fun for the whole family.

Skiing New Hampshire’s high point from the summit in mid winter conditions is new for me, I’ve only skied it in late spring, so cancelling plans to summit was hard. When we checked out the base of Hillmans Highway you can see why it was a good decision and why Mount Washington is infamous for deadly weather. See the extreme winds and cold at treeline in the mid part of the video:
